AAP protests against job scam, calls for Inquiry Commission with retired HC Judge

Date:

8 November 2024, Panaji,  Goa , The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a protest on Friday, denouncing the recent job scam that has taken center stage in the state. AAP has demanded the urgent appointment of an Inquiry Commission, led by a retired High Court judge, to conduct an impartial investigation into the infamous job scam, which has jeopardised the future of many job-seeking youth in the state.

With unemployment reaching critical levels, AAP emphasised the urgency of this matter. “In today’s AI-driven economy, the job market is already struggling, leaving many recent graduates without job security. Meanwhile, BJP ministers appear to be engaged in auctioning government jobs, selling the futures of our youth,” AAP State President Adv. Amit Palekar stated.

Palekar, a former rank holder in the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) exam who himself was affected by a similar scam, voiced his frustration with the BJP government. “Parents are working tirelessly, even selling their jewelry, to ensure a stable future for their children, but the lack of private sector opportunities and the apparent auctioning of government jobs have left young Goans disillusioned,” said Palekar. He condemned the government for exploiting these hopes, pointing to recent news reports that suggest jobs are being sold in Goa’s public sector.

Criticising the Chief Minister, Palekar questioned how alleged scammer Pooja Naik managed to gain direct access to the CM while others are required to seek appointments in advance. “The Chief Minister and BJP leaders are making scapegoats out of people like Pooja Naik while shielding themselves from accountability. A review of call records could reveal how far this conspiracy extends”, he asserted.

The AAP’s protest against the recent job scam saw overwhelming support from the youth, who voiced their frustration and disappointment with the state government. Young protesters expressed deep agony over the lack of job opportunities in the state, highlighting how the government’s failure to generate employment has left them in a precarious situation. Instead of recruiting candidates based on merit, they stated that government positions are being sold at exorbitant rates, turning what should be a fair hiring process into a profit-driven auction.

He has stated that he will verify the authenticity of the audio clip, which, if confirmed, could provide further evidence of corruption within the state govt’s hiring practices.
