Ensuring Public Health and Safety in Reis Magos Verem Saligao Constituency

The Village Panchayat of Reis Magos wishes to inform the general public about an important update regarding the quality of water available from the Panchayat well at Volant. According to a recent water analysis report received from the Office of the Chief Chemist, PHE Laboratory, WD-III (WS), PWD, Tonca, Caranzalem-Goa, the water from this well has been deemed unfit for human consumption.

Findings of the Water Analysis

The analysis conducted by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Laboratory examined the water quality in detail. The results indicate contamination or other issues that make the water unsuitable for drinking, cooking, or any other direct consumption. The exact causes may include bacterial contamination, chemical pollutants, or other hazardous substances. Such contamination can lead to serious health risks, including waterborne diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, and other gastrointestinal infections.

Public Advisory and Precautionary Measures

Given the findings, the Village Panchayat of Reis Magos strongly advises residents to avoid using water from the Panchayat well at Volant for any consumption purposes. The public is urged to take the following precautionary measures:

  1. Do Not Drink or Cook with Well Water – Consuming contaminated water can lead to severe health problems.
  2. Use Alternative Safe Water Sources – Residents should rely on piped municipal water supply or bottled water until further notice.
  3. Boil Water Before Use – If there is no alternative, ensure that the water is properly boiled and filtered to eliminate potential contaminants.
  4. Report Any Health Issues – If anyone experiences symptoms of waterborne diseases, they should seek medical attention immediately.
  5. Inform Others in the Community – Awareness among all residents is crucial to prevent accidental consumption of the contaminated water.

Steps Taken by the Panchayat

The Village Panchayat of Reis Magos, in coordination with the Public Works Department (PWD) and local health authorities, is taking necessary steps to address the issue, including:

  • Identifying the Source of Contamination – Investigations are being carried out to determine whether the contamination is due to sewage leakage, industrial waste, or natural pollutants.
  • Implementing Water Treatment Solutions – The authorities will take appropriate actions such as chlorination, filtration, or well rehabilitation to restore water quality.
  • Providing Alternative Water Sources – Arrangements may be made to supply clean drinking water to affected residents, if required.

Community Cooperation is Essential

The cooperation of the residents is vital in ensuring that the affected water source is not used until it is declared safe by the concerned authorities. The Panchayat will provide regular updates regarding water quality improvement measures and notify the public when the well is fit for consumption again.

For any concerns or inquiries, residents may contact the Village Panchayat of Reis Magos or the PWD Water Supply Department.

Your health and safety are our priority!
