On 29.12.2024 registered an offence vide Calangute PS Cr. No. 178/2024 u/s 318, 204, 132, 205, 319, 308 (6) of BNS, 2023 upon the State complainant of Shri. Narayan S/o Bhagwan Narse, age-45 years, Police Constable B. No. 6226, Calangute Police Station to the effect that on 26.12.2024 at about 01.20 hours at Calangute Football Parking, Umtawado Calangute, Bardez-Goa accused Mr. Manoj Kumar S/o M.L. Sharma, age-31 years, R/o Raipur, Chhattisgarh dishonestly impersonated himself as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer working in Odisha and deter a public servant from performing his lawful duty thereby cheated the complainant. Further the accused person intentionally attempts to put businessmen in fear of accusation of offence punishable to death.
Further accused person Manoj Kumar was traced and placed under arrest on 29.12.2024.
The said accused person Manoj Kumar arrived in Goa on 05.12.2024 and hired a Taxi and came to Calangute. He booked a room for him in Lambana Resort Umtawaddo Calangute Bardez Goa. Further he disclosed the taxi driver that he is IAS officer and working in Odisha and soon to be transfers to Goa for further duty. After few days he left Goa cititng some personal reason. On 20.12.2024 he again came back to Goa and contacted Taxi driver. The said Manoj Kumar on 26.12.2024 at around 01.20hrs visited at Calangute Parking in the taxi and showed his ID Car of being IAS Officer and asked the staff to accompany him so that he can do inspection in Calangute area. Staff accompanied him believing him to be IAS Officer and they went to Baga beach where he visited two shacks threatened them to stop the shack business. Further he visited prominent clubs in Baga Tito’s Lane and asked them to close the clubs otherwise he will put them in trouble. Further he dropped the staff at their respective places and returned to his hotel. He used to tell everyone that he is IAS officer and about to transfer to Goa for further duties
