Mandrem | June 29, 2025: In a strong show of public discontent, a large number of locals from Mandrem gathered on the Parse-Agarwada road demanding immediate hotmixing and repair work. The gathering, led by Mandrem Congress leader Devendra Prabhudesai, turned into a warning to the Goa state government — repair the road before July 15 or face a large-scale road block agitation.
The stretch of road between Parse and Agarwada has remained in a dilapidated condition for months, posing a severe risk to daily commuters, school children, and emergency vehicles. Craters, loose gravel, and waterlogging have turned it into a hazardous passage, despite repeated appeals by residents for attention from authorities.
Addressing the crowd, Devendra Prabhudesai criticized the government’s neglect and called out the failure of local representatives in fulfilling their basic responsibility.
“People are suffering every day. If the road is not repaired and hotmixed by July 15, we will bring thousands onto this road in protest. The government will be held fully responsible for the consequences,” he warned.
Residents expressed frustration over being ignored, with many claiming that despite multiple memorandums and social media campaigns, no concrete action has been initiated.
The warning by Prabhudesai has gained momentum across the constituency, with several social organizations, youth clubs, and local panchayat members reportedly extending support to the possible agitation.
This comes amid the monsoon season, which has further worsened road conditions, making timely repairs critical.
Locals say the agitation will not just be symbolic but could bring traffic on key Mandrem routes to a standstill if authorities fail to respond.
As the July 15 deadline approaches, all eyes are now on the state government and the PWD department — will they act in time, or will Mandrem witness yet another mass Protest ?
